Crossroads Shows Newsletter March 2016

You are receiving this email because you have expressed an interest in Dolls4all or the Crossroads Doll & Teddy Bear Shows.  Don’t forget to add to your address book so that the latest news will land in your inbox!

I love to know what makes things ‘tick’. When I look at a doll, I see all of the subsets of creativity that swirl together to make the doll wonderful.  Things like the person who makes (or pours) the perfect porcelain or the person who makes eyes to give just the right facial expression. How about the people that make wigs, earrings, shoes or clothes (ooh, don’t get me started on costumes).  From a philosophical point of view, I am interested in what draws us to a particular area of the doll & teddy bear world.  From a practical point of view I love the final form and visualize how the doll or teddy bear would fit into my collection.  I consider myself a ‘generalist’ so I pretty much love and appreciate all dolls & teddy bears and the events where they can be found. This Newsletter issue is devoted to a few great events and where to find them.

Let’s start with Crossroads Events.  Our team’s dedication is to serving all genres in the doll and teddy bear world with a broad spectrum of items available for collectors, creators and enthusiasts of all ages.  Based on recent feedback, the DOLLS4ALL website Home page has changed to include the next 3 months of our shows as well as pictures from recent shows. Our next event is one of the most popular:

Saturday, March 12 10AM to 4PM (early birds at 8:30AM)
Sunday, March 13 10AM to 3PM
Washington State Fairgrounds, 110 9th Ave SW (enter at the Gold gate) EXPO HALL
Puyallup, WA 98371 (click here for more details)

Let’s take a look at a different and fun genre.

PNWBJD logoOur BJD friends in the Northwest are celebrating their 5th anniversary with a special three-day BJD Comicon hosted by the Pacific NorthWest Ball-Jointed Doll Expo.  Activities begin Friday evening, May 20 and continue through Sunday, May 22; located at the Clearwater Conference Center & Casino Resort 15347 Suquamish Way NE  Suquamish, WA 98392. Click here for details. The list of programs, workshop and artists is impressive. I plan on attending to learn more about this interesting and growing segment of the doll world.

A word about getaways.  Who doesn’t love a roadtrip to go somewhere new and different? Getaways are perfect for that.  Scheduled dolly/teddy activities and sales floor for a couple of days, combined with outside adventures like tours or entertainment – could be just what you need!

This is the concept of the Crossroads team for our event in Albuquerque, NM. It is a registered participant event that includes event activities with souvenirs by Kish, Marca, Marilyn Selbee and more. For details and registration, click here.

So where do you find out about events in your area?  I received the following letter from Karen Kosies, Founder and Developer of DollShowUSA – I publish it here because this is a great resource that has my full endorsement!

Introducing  The Place To Go To Find A Show! is the only site of its kind on the internet.  Developed in February 2009, it was specifically designed to help collectors and enthusiasts locate shows and events across the USA, and now Canada. Although originally developed primarily for dolls, the site has grown to include teddy bear & critter, miniature, toy and train events.  It is Much more than an online Events Calendar, you will find informative guides for Promoters and Sellers that include helpful tips on how to have a smooth and enjoyable event.  The corresponding Facebook page provides information and camaraderie. So, if you haven’t heard of or haven’t been there recently, drop by and look around. While there you can sign up for the DollShowUSA Newsletter (click here for the Feb. 2016 issue) or like our Facebook page.

Crossroads Shows Feb. 2016 Newsletter

Winter is pretty – if you can observe the wonderland from your toasty warm window seat with a little fire and a refrigerator full of groceries … Nice!  Actually winter is a great time to organize stuff like closets, drawers, and pull out our dollies to have a good day of just, well play.  My dilemma is that with our house staged for sale – there just anything to organize, it’s all in storage, including the dolls.  Sigh.  So what does little miss ‘got to have something to do‘ take on?  Well how about a weekend,  baby kitchen remodel project – to modernize the ‘look’.  All new appliances, a new mosaic tile wall treatment, all new cabinet pulls, a new counter and stool – and it just keeps growing.  So the weekend went by and there are still a couple of days of work left.  I’m having another ‘WHAT was I thinking’ moment.

Moving on to playing with dolls & teddy bears – shows are my creative outlet and there are some great events on the horizon!

Crossroads Newsletter December 2015

What say ye – eventful year?  Mine was like being on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride for a REALLY long time.  At last things have quieted and we spent a long Thanksgiving weekend in Denver.  Since our son lives in the downtown area, we walked everywhere. Good exercise even in freezing weather.

November 2015 Crossroads Newsletter

Hearty greetings to all
I am loving the cooler weather and the beginning of ‘comfort food’ season.  After 9 events in 8 weeks and the agony of staging the house for sale (model home stuff – who can live like that) Jim managed to make a fabulous soup with squash from our garden, delish!  Me, well I am playing catch up and re-grouping which has been a pretty strict task master. The 2016 show schedule has been full of obstacles to overcome but I think we are in the home stretch.  Keep an eye on the website for details.  This brings me to a question – are you checking what is going on from our website home page?  I have discovered many are.  On the website,, each show has it’s own page (under Doll & Teddy Bear Events) with lots of information on what’s happening, and what’s changing in 2016. I work on the pages every week, so the latest news will be there.
